Imad Wasim hails Notts Outlaws players and says their is nothing better than winning trophies

The Outlaws beat Lancashire and Surrey on Finals Day to lift their second T20 VItality Blast title.

Wasim hailed the achievement but admitted not having the fans there took some of the shine off.

“It is one for the collection,” he said. “All the guys worked really hard and it paid off. This is a fantastic club and a fantastic team.

“It would have been packed and it would have been nice to lift the trophy in front of the fans, but you win trophies and nothing gets better than that.

“We missed the crowd and the celebrations. You win for your club and your county and nothing gets bigger, it's why we play cricket.”

The Pakistan star was also quick to pay tribute to the Outlaws’ all-star cast of youth and experience.

“Some of the young players could become the best in world cricket,” he added. “They are learning from experienced players and I'm hopeful that England Cricket is on the right track in terms of a benchmark.

“Samit patel was fantastic, he always performs. He has played for a long time and he delivered under pressure.

“All the experienced players delivered. Ben Duckett finished it off, Dan Christian delivered, it is fantastic to win.”

Ben Duckett's sterling season in all formats has been recognised with a place in the Greene King Team of the Year.

The Notts left-hander scored 394 runs during the Bob Willis Trophy campaign, scoring two centuries.

Duckett has added 274 further runs in the Vitality Blast campaign to date, including three half-centuries.

The 25-year-old's contributions have yielded him three man-of-the-match awards as determined by the PCA's MVP calculations, and 142 MVP points overall.

The Greene King Team of the Year is selected based on points accumulated according to the PCA's MVP rankings across red and white-ball cricket.

Batting, bowling and fielding points were taken into consideration as well as MVP points-per-game and MVP of the Match awards to create the ultimate domestic team.
