The historic meeting is regarded by many as one of England’s last bastions of pomp, pageantry and tradition. In the royal enclosure, gentlemen are still required to wear top hat and tails.
But while many will use the event as a social occasion to continue the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations, the equine action on the track is what matters most to racing fans.
Thirty-five races, including eight Group Ones, spread across five days (Tuesday to Saturday), with some of the best horses in the world competing for record prize money of £8.6 million. That adds up to the best week of racing on the planet.
For the first time since 2019 and the Covid-19 pandemic, capacity crowds will be back at Ascot this year. It is uncertain whether the Queen herself will make it, although she has two or three fancied runners, but the fields will include international raiders from France, Ireland, Australia, the USA, Germany and even Czechoslovakia.
You can watch every race on ITV or ITV4, and also Sky Sports Racing. And to give you a taste of what’s to come, we’ve picked out 13 horses to look out for. Not tips, but horses likely to steal the limelight as the week progresses.

5. Shahryar
Racing-mad Japan is still waiting to break its Royal Ascot duck, but in Shahryar, they have a golden chance. The four-year-old colt is already a dual Group One winner and goes for more glory in Wednesday's Prince Of Wales's Stakes where he faces only four rivals. 6. Bay Bridge
Veteran trainer Sir Michael Stoute is on the crest of wave after winning the Derby at Epsom, and he will be hopeful of adding to his magnificent tally of 82 winners at Royal Ascot with Bay Bridge in the Prince Of Wales's Stakes on Wednesday. OK, he must face aforementioned Japanese raider Shahryar, but his progress through the middle-distance ranks has been eyecatching.

7. Stradivarius
There's no doubt who the most popular winner of the week would be -- eight-year-old veteran Stradivarius, another Frankie Dettori mount, who is gunning for his FOURTH Gold Cup on Thursday to match the record set by Yeats between 2006 and 2009. John Gosden's stayer is in prime form and his cause has been helped by the likely absence of the favourite, Trueshan, because of fast ground. ([PHOTO BY: Alan Crowhurst/Getty Images)

8. Reach For The Moon
The Queen has owned 24 Royal Ascot winners down the years, and it would be fitting to celebrate another to mark her Platinum Jubilee. Perhaps her best chance is one-time Derby hope Reach For The Moon, another representative of the trainer/jockey John Gosden/Frankie Dettori combination, who goes for the Hampton Court Stakes on Thursday.
