RB Legion A go top of Hucknall Wednesday Pool League

Hucknall Wednesday Pool League champions RB Legion A moved top of the league after beating previous league leaders Yew Tree 7-1.

Dean North put Yew Tree in front before Mark Hardstaff, Dave Wainwright, Dave Stacey King, Michael Holmes Parker and Adam Stevenson on singles and the pairings of Holmes Parker/Stevenson and Steve Wood/Craig Johnstone saw Legion A home.

Half Moon had a 5-3 success at Portland Arms. Moon took the first three legs through wins including Phil Dalmedo and the pairing of Joe Etherington and Karl Element.

Scott Oxford pulled a leg back for Portland before Joe Etherington won the fifth leg to Moon.

Portland’s pairing of Gary Hipkiss and Steve Nicholls won leg six to reduce the arrears to 4-2 but Steve McIntyre wrapped up the points on leg seven before a consolation last leg from Portlands Dave Sargent.

RB Legion B kept in touch with the leaders after a 7-1 win over a depleted George Street Ladies team who had to forfeit the last two legs.

Legion wrapped up the points after only five legs through Clint Parker, Kieran Sheppard, Mark Lees, Wayne Cartledge and the pairing of Colin Draycott and Mark Lees. Lauren Powell and Andrea Green won the sixth leg for George Street before running out of players.

Station B moved second after beating Green Dragon 6-2. Roger Green won the first leg for Station only to see Dragon level through Dale Broome.

Station then took the next three legs through the pairing of Green and George Roy and singles wins for Dave Butler and PJ Singh.

Dragon pulled a leg back on pairs with Broome and Michael Bradley winning. Station then took the last two legs, Roy and Mark Bullock winning the legs.

Nabb Inn won 7-1 at Chequers. Nabb sailed into a 6-0 lead supplied by singles wins for Luke Wharton, Adam Fowkes, Danny Butler and Jay Smith and pairs wins for Butler and Smith, Smith completing an 8 ball and Wharton and Dave Ellis, with Wharton completing an 8 ball.

Craig Fletcher finally got Chequers off the mark taking leg seven before Nabb’s Martin Saxton took the last leg.

Liberal entertained draw specialists Bentinck Newbies and not surprisingly 4-4 was the result.

Liberal started the better taking the first two legs, Steve Clark and Gary Smith winning. Curtis Freeman and Alan Foster then won on pairs for the Newbies for 2-1. Dave Horan restored Liberals two leg advantage before a run of three legs for the Newbies turned the match on its head.

Paul Hibbard on singles then on pairs with Neal Dawn and Freeman winning the legs to put Newbies 4-3 up. Liberal’s Aiden Hewes held his nerve on the last leg to secure a draw.

The Tree Army kept their challenge on track after a 5-3 win at Bentinck Nomads. Dave Salmon won twice early on for Tree Army, on singles and pairs with Ashley Bettinson either side of a Nomads win for Reis Deaton.

Bettinson then won his second leg to put Tree Army 3-1 up. Gary Croll reduced the Nomads arrears to 3-2 before Joe Hammond won twice for Tree Army, firstly on pairs with Mick Salmon then singles. Gary James took a consolation last leg for Nomads.
