The two teams meet for for the third time and second league encounter in the Midlands Merit League.

In the first ever game, a friendly, Sherwood succumbed 66-6, but soon reversed that loss in the league, winning 40-28 away from home in their league game.

This weekend, with two wins and two losses under their belt, the Wolf Hunt, will be aiming to demolish Derby again as they did with Coventry Bears two weeks ago.

Derby come to Sherwood with three losses in the league so far, hoping to avoid a fourth.

Derby, with both a Premier League and Merit League teams, may want to swap around a little to ensure a strong squad, but will have to battle with a confident Wolf Hunt who have the momentum. The Merit League is designed for emerging clubs to allow chance to develop squads and teams. The Wolf Hunt are developing slowly but surely and will be looking to show they are improving together week on week.

Player coach Adam Bates said: “We had a fantastic win last time at Derby, and followed that up with a great comeback win away at Coventry.

“This weekend’s game will be a real test and a good indication of how we have developed on and off the park. Derby will be up for avoiding another loss, so we expect to be tested up front. This will be a real battle.”

Last weekend, the Wolf Hunt joined Leeds Rhinos at Headingley Carnegie.

This has brought a new confident feeling in the camp and they will be trying to show, they are developing as a real Rugby League force in the Midlands area.

The game kicks off at 2.30pm at Slant Lane, Mansfield Woodhouse.
