Greg Tempest gave the home side the lead in the 14th minute when he poked the ball past Scarborough keeper Thomas Taylor from 12 yards.

Watson scored Basford’s second after a beautiful exchange of passes in the Scarborough box created the space and he fired the ball low past the keeper at the near post.

Just before half time The Seadogs pulled one back through Michael Coulson who powered the ball into the bottom left corner of the net when the ball fell to him in the box.

Jack Thomas was tripped in the penalty box, but Watson missed the penalty with 25 minutes left.

He made up for his miss in the 87th minute by flicking the ball over the Scarborough defence and striking it into the bottom left.

Basford’s Dom Roma was sent off in the 90th minute for a bad challenge.
