BASKETBALL star Jo Sarjant, a bronze-medal winner with the England senior ladies' team at the Commonwealth Games in Australia, has visited Hucknall.
She handed over the awards at the annual presentation night of Hucknall Junior Basketball Club, held at the town's Royal British Legion social club.
Fifty members, ranging in age from eight to 18, who play for club teams, received the awards.
The club, who train at Hucknall Leisure Centre and the town's Holgate Comprehensive School, play in the Sherwood League at the Jesse Boot Wildcats Arena in Nottingham.
They have grown dramatically in recent years, progressing from one team of 12 youngsters to a club with about 150 members.
MEANWHILE the club's head coach, Martin Richardson, has acquired a second job as head coach of the newly-formed Mansfield Giants team.
The Giants will play in Division Four of the Men's National League when the new season starts in September. And they hope to progress to Division One in future years.
Anyone from the age of 17 upwards who might be interested in playing for the Giants is asked to attend trials.
The trials are being held at Mansfield Leisure Centre on Saturday July 22 (2 pm to 4 pm) and the Oaktree Leisure Centre in Mansfield, where the team will play their home games, on Saturday July 29 (2 pm to 4 pm). The cost is 4 per person.
Ex-player Richardson (29), who hails from Hucknall, has been a fully qualified professional coach since 1999.
