Schoolboy catches giant catfish
AN 11-YEAR-old boy from Hucknall certainly had something to tell his friends after catching a fish that weighed a whopping 61lb!
James Williams, of Stainsborough Road, was on a fishing trip with his dad, David Williams, in southern France when he hooked the five-foot long catfish.
The haul is a record for Vert Lake, which is south of Bordeaux. David said: "We had the fright of our lives when it came out! It took more than 40 minutes to catch.
"I have caught fish weighing about 40lb but nothing this big. It's amazing."
James has been fishing since the age of three. David said: "He asked if he could come along and has loved it ever since."
