Spot On B win challenge cup curtain-raiser

The new Hucknall Wednesday League is only a week away and as a curtain raiser the Spot On Club on Vine Terrace hosted the Spot On Three Man Challenge Cup.

New club manager Kerry Butler supported the event that saw the final contested by Spot On A — Lee Breedon, Karl Jones and Wayne Bettridge and Spot On B — Dean North, Ian Wikeley and John Whyley.

In the semi-finals, the A team beat The New Start 5-0 while the B team overcame No Going Back by the same score.

In the final the B team struck first with Dean North seeing off the A team’s Lee Breedon. Karl Jones levelled for the A team in a tense frame, beating Ian Wikeley.

The B team restored their lead when John Whyley beat Wayne Bettridge, but the A team restored parity again when Lee Breedon defeated Ian Wikeley.

Spot On B took three consecutive legs, moving into an unassailable 5-2 lead. Man of the match John Whyley beat both Karl Jones and Lee Breedon either side of a Dean North win against Wayne Bettridge.

Spot On A took the last two legs with wins for Karl Jones and Wayne Bettridge over North and Wikeley.

The Hucknall Summer League was won by RB Legion B, led by Dean Dymock, pipping inter-pub rivals RB Legion A with Spot On third.
