Sutton Spirit quintet fight for England
Sutton-based Spirit Sport Karate & Kickboxing had five members representing England in the Unified World Kickboxing Championships in Italy.
The team endured four days of qualifying rounds with four of them fighting their way to the finals where Millie Yates (nine) won a bronze medal, Molly Cooper (11) won a bronze individual medal and silver team medal, Charlie Ransford (13) a silver, and Jade Humphries (16) two silver medals, while club coach Chris Clarke (44) came out of retirement to win two silver medals.
Clarke said: “I was extremely pleased with the team’s performance against some world class fighters with some finals coming down to just one point.”
