Tite might at Mansfield succumb

Mansfield Hockey Club started the second half of the season with some player changes and a new formation to come out of the blocks, but went down 2-0 at home to Berkswell and Balsall Common.

Mansfield had the majority of possession in the early stages of the game, yet 15 minutes in, a long aerial clearance from a Berkswell defender left one of their attackers one on one with the Mansfield goalkeeper.

The Berkswell player, Simon Tite, is the current top scorer in the league and he added one more to his tally.

The half evened in possession and both teams had penalty corner opportunities, yet no more goals were added.

In the second half Berkswell came out on top and had a lot of attacking spells which were blocked by Mansfield.

However, 10 minutes in, Tite found some space in the Mansfield D, and provided a quick turn and shot into the bottom corner of the net.

Mansfield, gaining tempo, tried multiple times to gain a goal back with the best chance coming from a deflected shot by captain Martin Gardiner, yet he was denied.

In the end it was a very close game with Berkswell proving you have to take your chances when you can to win games.
