The Marcus Bonfanti Band make their latest appearance at The Flowerpot in Derby on Friday, May 1.
One of the most exciting new blues guitarists to emerge on the scene in recent years, Marcus Bonfanti spent his youth as a trumpet player before moving on to guitar.
His 2008 debut album Hard Times set the scene and sent some subtly effective messages about a new British voice demanding to be heard. 2010’s What Good Am I To You (Listed in Classic Rock Magazine’s top 50 albums of 2010 and single Give Me Your Cash, top 40 songs of 2010) made good on all those promises. The critical acclaim that both albums received earned him the 2012 British Blues Award for Best Songwriter. 2015 sees Marcus continue on his full band UK tour to promote the album Shake The Walls, which has received stunning reviews worldwide.
Then, on Saturday, May 2, you can see an appearance at the King Street venue by The Southmartins.
The band is an acclaimed UK-based tribute to the music of The Housemartins and The Beautiful South, and the members will be making their first appearance at The Flowerpot.
An energetic seven-piece band that plays all the hits and other bits of a hugely successful and varied songbook. With an unbeatable set of classic tracks such as Song For Whoever, Good As Gold, 36D, Perfect 10, Rotterdam, Happy Hour, Sheep and many more, this is a tribute band for many occasions and many different audiences.
Finally on Thursday, May 7, you can see Curved Air, the iconic progressive rock band making their third appearance at The Flowerpot.
Curved Air, the ground-breaking British prog rock band feature original members Sonja Kristina on vocals, Florian Pilkington-Miksa on drums, electric violin wizard Paul Sax, Kit Morgan (Jethro Tull) on guitar and Rob Martin on bass.
The band made a successful comeback at the Glastonbury and Isle of Wight festivals, and triumphed at the High Voltage. They remain a unique and powerful combination of a remarkable female vocalist and virtuoso musicians. Each member is an innovative artist who continue to inspire a new generation with their renowned live performances... and classic favourites like Back Street Luv, ‘It Happened Today, Vivaldi, Marie Antoinette, Phantasmagoria and Everdance.
Curved Air have recently released a new album Reborn - Classic Curved Air Revisited - a record of Curved Air tracks that are given new life in this re-union. Reborn is available through the band’s official website and is on sale at their concerts.
Doors open at 8pm for all three gigs. Admission is £12 for The Marcus Bonfanti Band, £10 for The Southmartins, and £15 for Curved Air. Advance tickets are available from The Flowerpot and RAW Promotions. They are also available on www.rawpromo.co.uk
