FORMAT International Photography Festival runs from March 13-April 12, at Quad and throughout Derby.
It brings together the best of contemporary international photography.
This year FORMAT celebrates its 10th anniversary and the theme is Evidence.
FORMAT International Photography Festival has built up its reputation through the championing of international photography and in particular introducing new talents to the UK. The 2015 festival will continue in this tradition with exhibitions by artists from North America, Europe, Scandinavia, Russia, India, China, South East Asia and Eastern Europe.
The main exhibition at QUAD, co-curated by Louise Clements and Lars Willumeit is entitled Beyond Evidence: An incomplete narratology of photographic truths, and takes its cue from the legendary 1977 work Evidence by Larry Sultan and Mike Mandel.
Featuring a wide range of work, including photography by Natasha Caruana, Edmund Clark, Mishka Henner and Cristina De Middel, the exhibition explores the relationship between image and knowledge.
Meanwhile, Derby Film Festival returns to QUAD from May 1-10 for a ten-day celebration of film culture with special guests, preview film screenings and live events.
This will be the fifth edition of the festival – formerly called iD Fest.
Now expanded to a ten-day celebration of film culture with special celebrity and industry guests, preview screenings, talks and seminars, special cinema events, the festival ends on a high as the final weekend will explore all things horror, science fiction and fantasy courtesy of the Fantastiq Film Festival.
