Broadway cinema visit for top director Wheatley

Acclaimed director Ben Wheatley will return to Broadway, Nottingham, on Tuesday, March 7, for a preview screening of his latest film, Free Fire, followed by a Q&A with Mayhem Film Festival's co-director, Steven Sheil.

The event will take place ahead of the nationwide release of the film on March 31.

Free Fire is Ben Wheatley’s sixth feature, following High-Rise, which the director also came to present in Nottingham last spring.

Free Fire is a guns blazing action thriller set in 1978 Boston when a deal to buy a stash of guns goes spectacularly and explosively wrong.

Starring Brie Larson, Cillian Murphy, Michael Smiley, Armie Hammer, Sam Riley, Sharlto Copley and Enzo Cilenti, Free Fire is the unmissable cinematic standoff of the year.

“It’s always a pleasure to partner up with our friends at Mayhem Film Festival to welcome Ben Wheatley”, says Melissa Gueneau, press and marketing co-ordinator at Broadway.

“We’ve been impatiently waiting for Free Fire ever since it closed the London Film Festival last autumn so we’re excited to finally bring it to Broadway.”
