Castle setting for outdoor theatre

Chapterhouse Theatre Company is bringing two plays to the historic setting of Bolsover Castle this season, as well as shows to nearby Creswell Crags and Wollaton Hall.

The first performance at Bolsover is a brand new production by award-winning writer Laura Turner, an adaptation of ‘The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes’.

It comes to the castle on Friday 20th June at 7.30pm.

Following the outstanding success of last year’s production of ‘Sherlock Holmes and the Hound of the Baskervilles’, Chapterhouse are bringing Holmes and Watson are back in a brand new adventure.

Set deep in the beautiful Northumbrian countryside, a terrifying mystery and a legendary nemesis await the arrival of the world’s greatest detective.

When the wife of Doctor Watson suddenly disappears, a desperate quest to find her begins.

Sherlock Holmes comes face to face with his greatest fear at the hands of his mortal enemy in this stunning new tale of romance and suspense.

Said writer Laura Turner: “I’m really excited to be writing a follow up to last year’s Sherlock Holmes and the Hound of the Baskervilles and have really enjoyed creating a new Chapterhouse story full of adventure mystery and suspense.”

They cost £15 for adults and £13 for concessions.

Refreshments will be available but audience members should bring seating.

Later this summer Chapterhouse are back at Bolsover with a stage version of the Jungle Book on Friday 29th August.

The company is also performing Sherlock Holmes at Wollaton Hall Gardens on Friday 11th and Saturday 12th July.

On Wednesday 30th July they will perform Emily Bronte’s Wuthering Heights at Creswell Crags before taking this production to Wollaton Hall on Friday 15th August.

Chapterhouse is also performing Shakespeare’s comedy Much Ado About Nothing at Nottingham Castle on Wednesday 20th August.
