Explosive show to be seen at Grand Pavilion

The Grand Pavilion in Matlock Bath plays host to a brand new, exciting dance show, on Saturday, April 25, at 7pm.

Bought to the UK from Dance Evolution Ltd, Compañia de Flamenco is set to present Spain’s much loved Jay Markwick at venues across the UK in Explosion, the all-new flamenco fusion show.

Historically, flamenco is not a dance normally well received in the rest of Europe. However, once some of the world’s most renowned theatre directors saw just a glimpse of the young dancer’s incredible talent, the show found itself alongside Thriller Live in London’s West End, as well as other premier theatres across the country.

To Jordan, to China twice and back to Spain over and over again as audiences amaze at his unbelievable talent, Jay has an energy and passion yet to be equalled by someone of such a young age. Originally from Essex, but now resident in Spain, he has already accumulated an enviable history in the world of entertainment.

At just eight years old, he achieved an incredible response to his performances across the world. When he performed in China, there was an immediate ‘call back’ for his return.

Unknown for a British dancer to enter the Ballet de Murcia, at just 17 years old, he began there as a professional dancer.

During his childhood, Jay consistently won first place in competitions and picked up uncountable trophies but it wasn’t until he performed his first show that he felt the ‘thrill’. A thrill that was to move him to where he is today.

He was only 18 when he undertook an international tour of Jordan and a month-long tour in China. By the time he was 19, he was ready to show the world his confidence and bravery; he left the Ballet de Murcia knowing that no-one is ever permitted to return once they leave.

However, following the conception of his own dance company, Jay’s outstanding talent resulted in an invitation, the first in history, to return.

Currently, Jay Markwick’s Compañia de Flamenco is receiving standing ovations across Spain as he prepares to take the company to London to kick off the first leg of its UK tour, with much demand already for the second leg, planned for February 2016.

Explosion is not all about flamenco. On the contrary, whilst the show incorporates much Spanish footwork, all the dance sequences are hugely influenced by ballet with a large content of Latin, classic and contemporary dance. Explosion is a unique fusion of these various dance styles, exploding with an intense colour and vibrancy that tells a love story through a sensual, fun and exciting combination of passion, strength and speed.

This is a spectacular, modern theatre production which promises to delight multi-age audiences across the UK.
