Magical moments as Disney on Ice sizzles for audience at the Arena

The magic of Disney on Ice cast its spell over the audience at Nottingham’s Capital FM Arena.

A riot of colour punctuated more than two hours of classic Disney stories told with a blitz of high-octane and crobatic skating set to familiar songs.

During what was an additional date for the show’s run at the city-centre venue, the buzz beforehand was all about the element that would be dedicated to the smash-hit Frozen.

Cue hordes of youngsters dressed as Anna and Elsa— and plenty of merchandise to match.

But this show was no one-trick pony.

Mickey and Minnie acted as comperes as movies including Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid and the Rapunzel-inspired Tangled sizzled on the ice with no corner of the Arena left untouched.

A glow-in-the-dark segment of The Little Mermaid was particularly memorable — and seemed to be enjoyed by X-Factor winner Sam Bailey who was sat just feet from my family and I.

But still the much-anticipated salute to Frozen stole the show as Olaf and Co — including reindeer Sven — sped onto the ice.

Snow flurries and, pyrotechnics had my son and daughter on the edges of their seats — along with every other member of the audience. Outstanding!
