Top organist to entertain at Belper concert
The venue is The Congregational Church, Green Lane, Belper, and the concert features the return of ex-Blackpool Tower and Turners Musical Merry-Go-Round organist Nicholas Martin.
Nick’s musical career started when he first studied the piano at nine. He began to take a keen interest in the organ shortly afterwards.

Hide AdDuring a family visit to Blackpool, in 1969 (at the age of five), he overheard the Wurlitzer organ being played in the famous Tower Ballroom by Reginald Dixon. Upon hearing the sound of this unique organ, Nick was totally smitten. In 1981, Nick’s Tower Ballroom ambition was realised in 1981, and he accepted a post as resident organist - an ambition achieved at just 17 years of age.
Nowadays, Nick’s career finds him performing for the many organ societies and clubs around the U.K. as well as church recitals.
He also performs and raises a lot of money for charity. He was awarded the BEM (British Empire Medal in the Queen’s New Years honours list in December 2014 for his considerable fundraising events.
