New Covid-19 lockdown is now underway

From November 5 until December 2, the country is in another lockdown to help slow down the spread of coronavirus as cases began to rise rapidly.

Sherwood MP, Mark Spencer, said: “These restrictions are not being implemented lightly, but given the rise in the number of Covid-19 cases we are seeing, this is regrettably the actions that we must take to once again slow and tackle the spread of the coronavirus.

“As we are closing various businesses and sectors, the Government have announced a range of support measures for these industries.

"These include extending the Furlough Scheme and the Job Support Scheme, which I will expand on in more detail in due course.

“The restrictions from Thursday, November 5, are you must stay at home, only leave the home for food, medical reasons, exercise, education or work, you should work from home if you can., industries that cannot work from home, for example, construction workers, can still go to work, everyone should avoid non-essential travel and schools and essential shops will remain open.”

As well as non essential shops and restaurants, gyms, leisure centres and cinemas have also had to close their doors.

A statement from Hucknall Leisure Centre said: “We’re very sad to be closing our doors until Wednesday, December 2.
