Only Hucknall Town saw a rise in its rate, up 22.2 per cent to 234.7.

Overall, Ashfield district has continued to see it’s rate of new cases dropping, confirming that the latest lockdown, which has now been in place for seven weeks, is having a positive effect.

The Government figures put overall case rates for Ashfield now at 273.6 per 100,000 – less than half what the rate was at January’s peak.

The figures also show there were 350 new cases in Ashfield in the last seven days.

Hucknall Town was one of five areas to see its rate increase, the most alarming being Huthwaite, which saw it’s rate double on the previous week.

Nottingham & Nottinghamshire Health Care also reports that, as of February 14, 225,874 people in the county have had at least one dose of the vaccine, including 45,946 over-80s – 92 per cent of the over-80s population.

Health chiefs are also urging people to stick to the lockdown rules.

Jonathan Gribbin, director of public health for Nottinghamshire, said: "The reduction in case rates in Nottinghamshire is roughly in line with what we have seen across the East Midlands and I want to extend my thanks again to everyone who is making it their business to follow the lockdown rules during these difficult times.

"Unfortunately the reductions in some parts of Nottinghamshire are not as strong or sustained as other parts of the country.

There is the prospect of some easier times ahead but for the time being it is essential that everyone makes it their business to follow the lockdown rules in full including following the ‘hands, face, space’ rules."
