SLIDESHOW: KP Lodges - the last word in indulgent relaxation

As busy working parents it is often difficult to get away from the humdrum and monotony of everyday life.

And even when the chance for a break does arise, it is, more often than not, trailing a bunch of rug rats along - it can be more of a chore than a holiday sometimes.

So when I was offered the chance for a two night getaway for myself and five friends at KP Lodges near Pocklington I jumped at the chance.

KP Lodges is part of the Evermore Lodge Holidays Collection, the ultimate in über-cool luxury set in a 200-acre country estate - and is a perfect retreat.

Radiating light, space and style, with all lodges offering hot tubs, the last word in indulgent relaxation, these fabulous lodges cannot fail to impress.

The superb KP Estate completes the picture – the chic Glasshouse hosts fine cuisine whilst its terrace overlooking rolling Yorkshire countryside is perfect for a sundowner.

Checking in Friday teatime we drove up to our lodge, which can only be described as out of this world.

Overlooking the 18 hole golf course, it was modern, spacious and wonderfully comfortable.

The ground floor comprised an open plan kitchen diner and living room with dual aspect windows flooding glorious light over the accommodation.

The obligatory TV and DVD stood unused for most our weekend, as we made full use of the outside space with hot tub, terrace and seating area.

We did make good use of the iPod docking station and Wifi however.

The kitchen had all the necessary appliances, including oven, hob, fridge freezer, microwave, and washer/dryer, as well as the usual equipment, crockery and cutlery.

An adjoining door led to a twin room with ensuite wet room, plus fantastic wardrobe and storage area.

On the first floor the master bedroom, also ensuite, had French windows giving wonderful views over the golf course.

There was a further ensuite double bedroom on this floor too. All came with complimentary toiletries.

We took a trip to the Glasshouse for a Saturday afternoon treat, sampling the varied menu on offer.

We were all very impressed with the food, the price and the welcoming staff. Well worth a visit.

Other amenities on site include a Glasshouse takeaway service with in-lodge delivery, bike hire, a selection of board games, Nintendo Wii and games, nature trail pack and small driving range.

Beauty treatments are also available, as are continental breakfasts delivered to your lodge, packed lunches, luxury BBQ pack, and BBQ hire.
