Both Joanna Fletcher, 19, of Story Gardens, Hucknall, and Sam Moffat, 20, who lives in Wick, Littlehampton, West Sussex, pleaded not guilty at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court.

Miss Fletcher was charged with using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour towards Terri Granger at Hucknall on Friday, November 6 last year, intending her to believe that violence would be used against her.

Miss Moffat faced the same charge, but against Connor Coulton, at Story Gardens, Hucknall the previous day, Thursday, November 5.

The pair were due to stand trial at court, but key witnesses, who were due to give evidence, failed to turn up.

The prosecution solicitor made an application for the case to be adjourned to a new date. But the magistrates rejected the application and dismissed the charges, enabling the defendants to walk free from court.
