Landlords Ian and Glenis Rooks, who run the Badger Box pub in Annesley Woodhouse were shocked when they attended the awards and heard they had beaten around 206 other Greene King Hungry Horse chains to take the title.

Mr Rooks said: “We have great staff and customers here at the Badger Box.

“Annesley is a great area and we have been here for 34 years and so know all the regulars well. When collecting our award at the presentation evening we had a standing ovation which we were told has never ever happened. It will be a memorable night for us for a long time to come.”

The awards evening was held on 29th October at the Wyboston Lakes in Bedfordshire. Mr Rooks added: “We have 18-year-olds through to 90-year-olds coming through our doors, we thank the staff and the community.”
