Beauty is more than skin deep for big-hearted Jolieanna
Singer and businesswoman Jolieanna Davis proved beauty pageants are about brains as well as looks when she became Mrs United Kingdom Beautiful earlier this year.
And she crowned that glory in August by flying to Hollywood USA where she wowed the judges to win the International People’s Choice at the International Beautiful Pageant world finals.
She managed to achieve all this at the same time as running three Derby dress boutiques and a letting agency - as well as continuing a career as a singer.
Jolieanna, 30 said: “It was a bit of a shock - I have only been doing pageants since April.
“These titles are about all types of beauty as well as good looks.
“They are open to women of all ages it’s about inner beauty.
“It’s not about being a Barbie Doll type, here there is a huge amount of charity fundraising involved.”
She was in competition with women from 20 other countries at the finals at the Crown Plaza Hotel where she went through three gruelling days of interviews.
“People expect the competitors to have an unhealthy attitude but everyone was so friendly and wanting to help each other out,” she said.
Jolieanna’s is using her title to promote The Me and Dee organisation, which gives care packs to families in the intensive care unit at Nottingham City Hospital, and provides seaside breaks for people with life-threatening or life-limiting conditions.
She said: “I do a lot of corporate events through my businesses and having that sash will give me more opportunity to talk about things close to my heart.
“It would be nice if I could find a big sponsor for them.”
Jolieanna last appeared in the Chad in 1996 after arranging a charity concert aged 13 and performing with the Rotary club at Alfreton Leisure centre.
She has since appeared on Sky TV in the regional finals of Britain does Variety and reached the last 100 of 12000 people auditioning for the XFactor in Manchester.
Singing remains her main passion and she performs regularly in pubs and clubs, but she says will get involved in more competitions.
She said: “Can’t wait to dress local girls for next years proms and this years winter weddings
“I know exactly what girls want to feel unique, glamorous and confident on their special day.”
