Best work of the year is showcased

The inaugural art, design and technology exhibition at the National Church of England Academy in Hucknall took place, showcasing the superb range of work done by students across a number of year groups.

The exhibition showcased outstanding projects undertaken in art together with design technology from students in years 11, 12 and 13.

Ranging from architecture design projects, engineering, to ceramics work and paintings, all attendees agreed that the quality of work on display was of a very high standard.

On the first day of the exhibition, the academy opened its doors for an evening viewing of the projects on display for more than 100 parents and students, with prizes awarded to the most outstanding projects of the year.

Darren Giles, design technology teacher at the academy commented: “The students have done a fantastic job with the exhibition. Their displays represented many hours of effort and some outstanding creative talent and it was a joy to share this with parents and the students’ peers.

“We are now looking forward to an even bigger and better show in 2017 - art, design and technology is flying high at national.”

During the exhibition, all classes were invited to view the work as part of their lessons.

More than 300 students took the opportunity to experience the work created by their friends.

Mr Giles added: “The fact that students can have their project displayed for all to see is very positive and they gain a great deal of confidence from this.

“Other students who have viewed the work see it as something to strive towards and want to get their own work displayed in the future.”
