Blaze in grounds of Newstead Abbey

FIREFIGHTERS who dealt with a blaze to at a barn in the grounds of Newstead Abbey faced a tricky challenge.

For the building at Abbeyfields Farm was on the verge of collapsing and inside were 15 carbon-dioxide cylinders, which were in danger of exploding.

Fire crews from Ashfield, Mansifleld and Blidworth spent an hour and a half at the scene after the alarm was raised just before 3 pm on Monday (March 9).
