Susan Edwards (55) and her husband Christopher (57) both of no fixed address, appeared at Nottingham Crown Court today on Friday, each charged with two counts of murder.

They pleaded not guilty and were remanded back into custody until their trial on Monday 2nd June.

Police discovered human remains buried in the back garden of a house in Blenheim Close in October last year.

DNA testing has formally identified the remains as those of William and Patricia Wycherley, who lived at the house in the 1990s and, according to neighbours, just disappeared in 1998.

Following a post-mortem examination, a Home Office pathologist determined both died as a result of being shot.

Local residents told Chad of their shock when the bodies were found in October.

Carol Aram, from Blenheim Close, said: “If I had known they were in difficulty I would have tried to help or support them.

“I am really shocked - to think that something like that happened so nearby is very upsetting.”

Another resident said the news was a real shock.
