Camp memorial is a step closer
Landowner Guy Shaw-Browne has offered the donation and transport of architectural materials still in existence from the footings of the original camp billet huts.
The concrete memorial will be built at the front of Samuel Barlow School and will include a six ft upright piece and memorial garden, organisers hope.

Hide AdSheila Soar, Newark and Sherwood district councillor for Clipstone, said: “This is a massive piece of local history and the memorial will serve as a permanent marker to Clipstone Camp.
“If we do not do something the site will fade from people’s memories - I think people will be very pleased with it.”
Coun Soar said the memorial would be put together by Army cadets, Scouts and Clipstone residents and she hoped to see it complete this year.
The councillor is also appealing to undertakers to donate an inscribed memorial stone.
