Jim Radburn is the founder member and leading light of the Carers In Hucknall group which has been running for a decade and owes much of its success and longevity to its committed chairman.

“Jim is a fantastic guy and the work he does makes him special,” said Elsie Nicholls of Lancaster Road. “It’s very difficult at times to be a carer for someone and having this group to turn to and Jim for support gives you a purpose and makes it easier.”
The group was formed to offer help, advice and companionship to those people who care for others - something Jim feels passionately about after caring for his wife who suffered from Alzheimer’s before she died five years ago.

“I was completely gobsmacked when the Dispatch photographer walked into the room holding a rose,” said Jim, of Avon Avenue. “I jokingly said ‘Is that for me?’ and when she said yes I couldn’t believe it.
“I was completely stunned, which is unusual for me, but it is a lovely token of appreciation.”
