Cat charity offering low-cost neutering service

The charity Cats Protection is offering to neuter cats in the Nottinghamshire area for just £10 in a drive to reduce the number of unwanted kittens.

Owners on benefits or low incomes will be able to have their cat snipped or spayed at the discount rate at one of over 10 participating vets in the region.

The new scheme will run until the end of the year and owners can find out their nearest participating vet by visiting Cats Protection’s website at www.cats.org.uk/what-we-do/neutering/current-neutering-campaigns or calling the charity’s Helpline on 03000 12 12 12.

Owners will need to take proof of benefits or low income to the vet to be entitled to the subsidised cost of £10.

Neutering manager for Cats Protection Jane Clements said: “We’ve been working closely with vets in Nottinghamshire to introduce this scheme which we hope will benefit many cats and owners.

“We hope that by helping towards the cost we will reduce the number of unwanted kittens being born in the area and help cats lead healthier, happier lives.”

Kittens from four months old as well as male and female adult cats can all be neutered for £10, with the rest of the cost being met by Cats Protection.

Call Cats Protection’s Helpline on 03000 12 12 12 or visit the charity’s website at www.cats.org.uk/what-we-do/neutering/current-neutering-campaigns for details of you nearest participating veterinary practice.
