Christmas Day tragedy: case adjourned

AN AMERICAN man accused of killing the girlfriend of a Hucknall Town footballer in a Christmas Day car-crash has had his case adjourned until next month.

Martyn Crew (52), of San Carlos, California, has been charged with causing death by careless or inconsiderate driving after the accident on the A46 in Kinoulton.

Natasha Jackson (21), who was the girlfriend of Yellows defender Jay Smedley, died in the smash.

Natasha, of Beaumont Green, Groby, Leicestershire, was driving a Vauxhall Corsa that was in collision with a Nissan Acenta being driven by Crew at about 2.50 pm.

Crew did not attend the latest hearing at Nottingham Magistrates Court and the case was adjourned to Nottingham Crown Court on Friday June 19.
