Community brass band hits right note
HUCKNALL and Linby Mining Community Brass Band are celebrating their latest success after taking the top title as Midlands Champions in the Third Section in their latest competition.
The band were pitched against 17 other competing bands from across the district. They took first, prize winning The People Challenge Cup, £200 in prize money and the champions’ regional banner.
Musical director Paul Whyley was full of praise for the band but is now busy preparing the new test piece for the National Finals to be held in Cheltenham in September when the band will represent the Midlands.
