Arrest made in connection with Hucknall stabbing

Police made an arrest within minutes of a man being stabbed in Hucknall.

The victim, a 20-year-old man, was riding a bicycle when he was confronted by three men and stabbed near Farleys Lane, at around 1.45pm yesterday (Friday 24 July).

He was taken to hospital but his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening or life-altering.

Firearms officers were quickly on the scene and arrested a 26-year-old man on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm after abandoning a moped close by. He remains in police custody.

The victim's bicycle is believed to have been taken in the incident.

Detective Sergeant Luke Todd, who is leading the investigation, said: "We are continuing our enquiries in the area and would like to hear from anyone who was in the area or has any dash-cam or video footage of what happened.

"Officers will also be on patrol in the area to provide reassurance.

"Violence, particularly involving weapons, will not be tolerated in Nottinghamshire and the swift and robust response to this incident shows just how seriously we treat this type of offence.

"We have made one arrest so far but our enquiries are continuing to trace further people in connection with the incident."
