The victim had left a party to go to the store to buy items when he was attacked from behind.

The main attacker, 25-year-old Brandon Brailsford, of Homefield Road, Radford, was jailed for 17-and-a-half years after pleading guilty to wounding with intent.

Along with Baker, Isaiah Llewellyn, 23, of Leopold Street, Derby, was jailed 25 months on the same charge as Baker.

All three were sentenced at Nottingham Crown Court on Friday, October 29.

A fourth man, Montel Rawlins, 23, of Rees Gardens, Top Valley, has pleaded guilty to wounding with intent and is due to be sentenced on November 12.

Detective Sergeant Rob Wells said: “The devastating and long-lasting impact of incidents involving knives and the harm they cause cannot be overstated.

"In this instance a victim has lost his sight in one eye and the blows he sustained could so easily have proved fatal.

“Nottinghamshire Police continues to treats knife crime extremely seriously and will leave no stone unturned to bring those responsible for serious acts of violence to justice as well as removing dangerous knives from our streets.

"We understand people will be concerned about these sort of serious occurrences but I’d like to reassure the public the force is working every day to target people who carry weapons on our streets and to work proactively with groups to prevent offences from happening in the first place.

“We act swiftly and professionally to deal with reports of knife incidents and increase our neighbourhood patrols in affected areas to provide a reassuring presence and show people we are there for them while thoroughly investigating crimes of this nature.

“I hope these sentences, particularly the lengthy prison term given to Brailsford, sends out a strong message that if you get involved in knife crime and violence you will be caught and we will work tirelessly to ensure you are brought before the court to face justice."

Nottinghamshire Police is committed to preventing knife crime all year round by working closely with partner agencies, including Nottinghamshire’s Violence Reduction Unit, as well as engaging with communities.
