The trio jailed for the wielding of knives in Bulwell

Shaad Ayub, 29, Shaban Hussain, 20, and Sufiyan Hussain, 22, were among individuals involved in an altercation on Goverton Square and Saxondale Drive in Bulwell on 11 January 2020.

They were captured on dash-cam footage in the middle of Goverton Squarein the town in possession of knives as men were seen chasing after each other.

As the men reached Saxondale Drive an Audi driven by 26-year-old Leona Bailey arrived at the scene as the altercation continued.

Witnesses described seeing people hitting the car with their fists before Bailey drove into a man and ran over him before coming to a stop.

Emergency services were called to the scene and the man was taken to hospital with serious injuries including broken ribs, a fractured pelvis, bruised lungs and cuts and bruises.

Shaad Ayub, formerly of Brayton Crescent, Bulwell, Shaban Hussain, of Goverton Square, Bulwell, and Sufiyan Hussain, of Patchwork Row, Shirebrook, went on to plead guilty to charges of affray and possession of a bladed article in a public place.

Appearing at Nottingham Crown Court for sentencing on Wednesday September 2 September they were each jailed for 15 months for affray and given concurrent 15-month sentences for possession of a bladed article in a public place.

Bailey, of Cinderhill Road, Bulwell, has previously pleaded guilty to a charge of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

She is due to appear at Nottingham Crown Court for sentencing on a date to be confirmed next week.

Two other men charged with affray and possession of a bladed article and a third man charged with affray in connection with the incident are due to stand trial on March 8 next year.

Detective Inspector Ed Cook, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: "Nottinghamshire Police treats knife crime extremely seriously, whether it takes place in public or a domestic setting.

"Serious violence, including the use of knives and other weapons, will not be tolerated in Nottinghamshire and we will deal with such incidents swiftly and robustly."
