Officers spotted a Nissan Qashqai in Cinderhill Road at around 12pm on Thursday and moved to investigate.

The driver of the vehicle is then alleged to have attempted to evade police, driving dangerously in order to avoid capture.

The suspect is due to appear before magistrates at the weekend.

When police moved to box in the car, the driver is then alleged to have rammed into police cars on Dursley Close before being brought to a safe stop.

Ashley Wilson, 31, of Fenwick Close, Aspley, is due to appear at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Saturday charged with dangerous driving, driving while under the influence of alcohol and aggravated vehicle taking without owner’s consent.

The aggravated vehicle taking without owner’s consent charge relates to an incident where a car was allegedly stolen from Nuthall on March 28.
