Stills taken from the CCTV footage were published by the force as part of a media appeal which led to members of the public coming forward with information including the suspect’s name.

A police officer also identified 35-year-old Masterson from the circulated image.

Masterson, of Moor Road, Bestwood, was jailed for eight months after pleading guilty to a charge of burglary.

He appeared at Nottingham Crown Court for sentencing on April 20.

Detective Sergeant Andrew Hall, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “We are extremely grateful for the assistance from members of the public who responded to our media appeal for information and to identify a man we wanted to speak to in connection with the incident.

“The assistance provided by the community in this case helped us to arrest Masterson, bring him to justice and remove a burglar from our streets.

“We understand how upsetting burglaries can be for residents.

"I hope this case reassures people that Nottinghamshire Police treats burglary seriously and works tirelessly to put suspects before the court at the earliest opportunity."
