Dancing trio take the honours

Awsworth Primary and Nursery School has held its first ever talent competition.

More than 100 pupils took part in ‘Awsworth’s Got Talent’ and dancers John Sanders, Megan Eardley and Lucy Gauntlett-Munn took the honours.

The event was co-ordinated by senior teacher Ian Baxter and members of the school council who eventually whittled the numbers down to a final of 17 performers.

Year five pupil John Sanders impressed with his dance routines performed to the Michael Jackson hit ‘Smooth Criminal’, while year six scholars Megan and Lucy teamed up and won the votes with their energetic versions of the Bruno Mars’ hit ‘Up Town Funk’.

The winning trio were each presented with trophies at a special assembly.

They showcased their talents yet again at a parents evening on Tuesday of this week.
