Hendry, 49, of Riley Avenue, Sutton, admitted drink driving when he appeared at Mansfield Magistrates Court on Wednesday.

A test revealed 107 milligrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood, when the legal limit is 80 milligrammes.

Sarah Neale, mitigating, said Hendry, who has no previous convictions, worked part-time as a driver and a valeter because he looked after his wife, who has rheumatoid arthritis.

She said he was not a heavy drinker, but did not pour the drink at his boss’s birthday. He would now lose his driving job because of the inevitable ban.

Magistrates disqualified him for 14 months and fined him £120, with costs of £85 and a £30 victim surcharge.
