Experience trench life at Thoresby
The Queen’s Royal Lancers and Nottinghamshire Yeomanry Museum is marking the anniversary of the Great War with a special exhibition, featuring a section of a typical trench which soldiers would have manned during campaigns on the Western Front.
Staff and volunteers have spent months planning and building the trench with the kind of materials which would have been available to the British Military.
Special display boards will be updated each year to highlight key events during the four years of the conflict.
The new exhibition room will be officially opened this Saturday (23rd August).
Curator Capt Mick Holtby said: “This project highlights the part played by the local regiments in an exhibition area which enables visitors to experience and learn about life in the trenches.”
