Said Martin: “I completed my final 2014 challenge with a full marathon in Vegas and whilst I was out in America a good friend of 30 years, Jonathan Hartley, who is Sutton born and bred, was penciled in for the surgery.

“I am pleased to state the operation was a success and ‘Jono’ is on a steady road to recovery and embracing life again. In a wave of solidarity to Jono, I will be taking on a number of endurance challenges in support during his recovery . I full on respect what the guy has been through.”

Martin completed theWinter Warrior 10 obstacle course at Castle Donnington recently, and his upcoming challenges include a North London half marathon on March 15th, a Dash of the Titan 15 mile obstacle course and Farmageddon 20k obstacle course, both in April.

He will also take on the brutal 20 mile affair that is Man vs Mountain in September.
