Gritters on stand-by for another night of freezing temperatures

The county council’s gritting teams will be salting all published A, B and main bus routes from 7pm tonight.

Rain and sleet showers are forecast to ease during this afternoon, leading to clear skies, meaning that road surface temperatures will fall below freezing tonight.

Last night, the teams were out from 7.45pm and had completed a run on all routes by twenty past midnight.

Salt stocks across the county remain healthy at 14,914 tonnes. In total the county has the capacity to store 22,000 tonnes at its four salt barns.
