Hucknall Lovelace Theatre Group’s junior showtimefundraiser success

Hucknall’s Lovelace Theatre Group’s young stars took to the stage recently for their junior showtime extravaganza.

Talented youngsters from the amateur dramatic group presented A Junior Fundraiser/Showcase at The John Godber Centre on Sunday July 19th.

Director/producer/choreographer, Rebecca Mayes, assisted by her backstage team, brought together a selection of dramatic short plays, singing starlets and dancers to present the homegrown talent from members aged nine-16.

“Sheer hard work and brilliance shone through with some exceptional standout performances,” said James McBride of Lovelace. “Most notably the Cinderalla ‘story’ was much loved by the whole audience under the ‘sub direction’ of Ethan Thomas.”

The event also included a tombola, refreshments, hook-a-duck, arts and crafts and cakes to help raise the much needed funds.

“The whole afternoon raised an outstanding sum of £700 which will not only buy the new microphones we need but will go towards stage makeup and costumes, which we haven’t been able to replace for a number of years.”

The group also received a surprise gift on the day.

“During the afternoon a gentleman from the audience approached a member of the group and handed an envelope with a large donation saying he was “very impressed” with the performances he had seen,” added James.

Preparations are already underway for Lovelace’s popular annual pantomime show. Auditions start on September 7th for ‘Peter Panto’ written by group member, Tom Morley. Performances will take place at The John Godber Centre towards the end of January 2016.
