Paul Pounder, 39, will be raising raise money for the STEPS charity which has supported Paul’s family since his youngest child William was born with a condition called bilateral talipes.

In August last year Paul successfully climbed Mount Kilimanjaro but since his return William has had to return to hospital for an operation for the ongoing treatment for his talipes.

This included a tendon transfer tibialis anterior and a lengthening of his achilles tendon to deal with a relapse in his right foot.

Paul has won a charity place from STEPS to run the 2016 London Marathon and is aiming to take his fundraising to over the £4000 barrier.

Paul said: “After climbing Kilimanjaro I always hoped I could continue the fundraising with such a landmark event.

“Unfortunately I missed out an a ballot place but I’m so grateful that STEPS have allowed me to run for them with one of their charity places”.

Paul intends to take a well deserved break after the marathon, but it wonʼt stop him supporting the charity that both he and his wife, Clair, are so grateful for their help.

Clair said: “Both Paul and myself have recently signed up as volunteers for the charity to support future parents with children with conditions similar to William.”

Paul added: “With all the treatment William has undergone in the first six years of his life, including his
recent operation, we feel we can support other parents who are going through similar experiences as ourselves.”

Paul will run the marathon on Sunday, April 24, and to sponsor him visit www.justgiving.com/ClimbSteps.
