Norman Masamvi, 49, said: “I am delighted to come to East Midlands Referrals, which is held in high esteem.

“I have found everyone here very friendly.”

Norman qualified as a vet in 1994 and has worked in the UK since 2008.

He and his wife, Euphia, have two children.

Principal vet, Graham Oliver, said: “I am very pleased that Norman has joined East Midlands Referrals.

“His skill and experience will be very beneficial to us.”

Zimbabwe is famous for its Matobo National Park, which has achieved UNESCO World Heritage status.

It has a large population of animals, these include black and white rhinos, wildebeest and giraffes.

But at the Hucknall surgery, Norman is treating much smaller animals like Tilley, a Jack Russell and shih tzu cross who is pictured with Norman and Graham.

Tilley is owned by Elizabeth Searson, who is from Ripley.
