‘Incredible’ day of music at Hucknall’s Fake Festival

Music fans from across the Dispatch district and beyond descended on the town on Saturday for the second year running to have fun at the Fake Festival.

Tributes to Oasis, Red Hot Chili Peppers and the Kings of Leon were the featured bands on the day long event.

Supporting the headliners were local bands LayBy, The CTRL, The Sons, The Wonderers and Duke 01 and Furious P performing at Titchfield Park which was transformed into a site full of fun for all the family and music lovers alike.

Hucknall Fake Festival served up an incredible day of music and the bands blew the crowd away with their uncanny familiarity to the real thing,” said organiser, Stuart Mather. “And the local bands proved a real hit too with The Wonderers from Mansfield proving a dance floor filler with their 50s mix.

“It was an amazing day and I want to thank everyone that came along on the day. We hope you all enjoyed it as much as we did.”

Tickets for what is likely to become an annual event went on sale several months ago and just under 1,000 revellers attended the festival.

“Thanks to all the local businesses that helped sell tickets, put up posters in their windows and generally supported the festival, your help is greatly appreciated,” added Stuart.

“It wasn’t as well attended as last year’s July event which was a little disappointing. But I think because it fell at the end of half term week which was very wet, it had an effect on ticket sales on the day even though the weather had picked up and it remained fine and dry.

“And I also believe the boxing match at Wembley didn’t help either. But despite this it was still a fantastic event and I hope to bring it to the town again next year.”

The festival provided its own security but Hucknall police supplemented this with a light prescence with Ashfield District Council staff helping to prepare the site before and assisted in the clean-up afterwards.

“I’ve had so many people tell me they had a great time and the feedback we’ve received on Facebook has been tremendous,” added Stuart who lives in Hucknall. “I’d like to say a special thank you to my friends and family who all give up their Saturday to come and help staff the event.
