Lidl's planned new Shirebrook store: public consultation to be held

Lidl UK has announced that it will be holding a public consultation day to outline plans for its new store on Portland Road in Shirebrook

The public are invited to attend the event, which will take place between 3pm and 7pm on Tuesday June 21 in Kissingate Leisure Centre on Park Road. Lidl’s dedicated property team will be on hand to outline the supermarkets plans for a new store and answer any questions from the local community.

The supermarket revealed earlier this year that it wants to open a brand new store in Shirebrook as part of its ongoing expansion ambitions within the UK.

The multi-million pound investment, will see Lidl commit to building a sustainable 1424m2 store on the site, with plans to create up to 40 new jobs.

The supermarket will boast state of the art facilities including an instore bakery, longer-style tills with dual packing facilities, customer toilets and ample parking for both cars and bicycles.

Lidl UK’s Regional Head of Property, Graham Burr, said: “We are extremely excited about the prospect of opening a Lidl in Shirebrook and serving our fresh, quality and incredibly good value produce which shoppers across the country have come to love. We look forward to welcoming any one along to the public consultation day and showcasing our plans whilst answering any questions.”

The supermarket, which was crowned Grocer of the Year at the 2015 Grocer Gold Awards, has experienced continued growth over the years, . Lidl’s success shows no signs of slowing, as the latest Kantar Worldpanel results outline its continued growth and market share high of 4.4%.

The planned store in Shirebrook will add to Lidl’s existing store portfolio of 630, and will form part of the company’s growth plans which hope to see this increase to 1,200 store in the future.
