Man charged with murdering police officer

A 25-year-old man, David Andrew Parfitt, of Wareham Close, Aspley, appeared at Nottingham Magistrates' Court last Friday and was remanded in custody to Nottingham Crown Court until Friday January 17.

He is also charged with the theft of a Vauxhall Astra car and taking the Vauxhall Vectra taxi without consent.

Pc Walker (42), a dog handler, was pronounced dead in the Queen's Medical Centre, Nottingham, at 6.45 pm on Thursday January 9.

Tributes poured in for Pc Walker, a married father-of-two, who was the first Notts officer to be killed on duty for more than two decades.
