Man charged with Tesco bomb threats

AN UNEMPLOYED man has appeared in court charged with a string of bomb threats that forced supermarket giants to close their Hucknall store and 13 others across the country.

Philip McHugh (51) has been charged with two specimen offences of blackmail and two of making bomb hoaxes, say Hertfordshire police, who are leading the investigations.

McHugh, of Milton Avenue, Clitheroe, Lancashire, appeared at Stevenage Magistrates Court and the case has been adjourned.
