The incident happened at around 1.30pm on Monday 13th January in Common Road, at its junction with the Fullwood Industrial Estate.

A blue Land Rover Discovery was in collision with a bronze-coloured Volkswagen Passat.

The 48-year-old driver of the Passat, a woman, suffered minor injuries. The 64-year-old driver of the Land Rover, a man, was seriously injured. No one else was involved.

Both were taken to King’s Mill Hospital by paramedics for treatment.

The woman was later discharged but the man has since been transferred to Nottingham’s Queen’s Medical Centre for further treatment.

He is in a stable condition, police said.

The road was closed while the scene was examined and cleared. It re-opened at around 4.30pm.
