Mansfield Woodhouse: Charity match to remember dedicated Ian
Now the club are coming together to put on a special 20-20 fixture at their Debdale Lane home to raise money for Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research.
“Ian was very dedicated, a true clubman, who would play for any of the teams and spent a lot of time coaching juniors,” said chairman Paul Wright.
“He joined in 1987 and was one of those people who didn’t have a bad word to say about anyone. He was very well liked and will be very much missed.
“Ian was still playing until fairly recently and was to captain the second team this year after playing for the first team for years.”
The fun evening will feature a bouncy castle for the kids, a barbecue and a raffle, with VIP tickets to cricket at Trent Bridge and signed Mansfield Town and Liverpool memorabilia among the prizes.
The teams involved will be made up of past and present Sherwood players, including those from Cuckney, Nomads and Mansfield and Pleasley.
The 20-20 game will start at 6pm and will be followed by a disco in the pavilion, with free entry for spectators and all welcome.
